For the third consecutive year,  Iloilo Metropolitan Times (IMT NEWS) photojournalist Ian Paul Cordero received the Healthcare Photo of the Year award from The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI).

Cordero took home a trophy and a cash prize during the 3rd Paglaum Media Excellence Awards on April 30, at Courtyard by Marriott.

His winning photo, titled FIGHT VS DENGUE, featured a young boy clearing a canal of trash and stagnant water to help prevent and control the spread of dengue-bearing mosquitoes in Iloilo City.

Cordero said he is “overwhelmed with joy and gratitude” and is thankful to TMCI for recognizing his efforts in telling stories through photography.

“I offer this award to our Lord, who gifted me with this talent, and to my IMT NEWS family, who always push me to go beyond boundaries. This award is also for my family, who supports me every step of the way.”

Meanwhile, IMT NEWS editor Reymar Latoza was a finalist and columnist Alex P. Vidal were finalists for the Most Promising Healthcare News and Most Promising Healthcare Story awards, respectively.
