An Italian national was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Mandurriao, Iloilo City for overstaying and lacking valid travel documents.

The suspect — identified as Antonino Consoli, 40 — was apprehended at a restaurant he operates along Megaworld Boulevard in Mandurriao district on Sept. 30.

According to the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit, the arrest stemmed from reports alleging that Consoli was involved in the physical abuse of a Filipina and was operating a business without proper permits.

BI records show that Consoli last entered the country in January 2023 as a temporary visitor. His visa expired in August 2024, and his passport also lapsed on September 21, 2025, making him both an overstaying and undocumented alien.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado commended the FSU for its continued vigilance in monitoring foreign nationals, saying it helps safeguard the country from external threats.

Consoli will be transferred to Manila for booking and documentation before being turned over to the BI Warden Facility.IMT
