Former mayor Jerry P. Treñas has been named “Special Adviser to the Iloilo City Government.”
Treñas’ designation was ordered by his daughter, newly assumed Mayor Raisa Treñas, through an executive order (EO).
EO No.004, Series of 2025 was signed by Raisa on Thursday, June 30, her first day in office.
Jerry’s main responsibility is to “provide advice to the City Mayor with regard to political concerns, and also with regard to management and governance of the city.”
“The experience, knowledge and expertise of former mayor Jerry Treñas is invaluable in helping the city government address the concerns of its citizens and ensure that the general welfare of the city is provided for,” the EO stated.
In a Facebook post, Jerry said he “fully respects” the EO issued by Raisa.
“As the newly elected mayor, she is now in the best position to determine what is necessary for effective administration and public service,” he said.
“I will only give advice when I’m asked. I will remain silent when I am not. My daughter, Mayor Raisa Treñas, is strong-willed, independent-minded, and fully capable of making her own decisions,” Jerry added.
According to the former major, Raisa “has the full support of the City Legal Office and the department heads, who are more than able to provide her with the sound guidance she needs in leading the city.”
“I have full confidence in her ability to govern, grounded in integrity, consultation, and the rule of law,” Jerry stressed.IMT
