The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) has completed the implementation of 21 projects amounting to over P47.11 million in Western Visayas this year.

They were implemented under two modalities: the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay Community-Driven Development (KKB-CDD) with 19 projects costing over P43.18 million; and the Pag-abot Program with two, worth P3.93 million.

“Pag-abot is another flagship program, which aims to reach out to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, children, and families in a street situation. They are the street people in Manila who would like to return to their provinces,” KALAHI deputy regional program manager Silverio Von Maguad III said in a news forum on Friday, Nov. 28.

They are provided support, including the community where they reside, he added.

A P1.96 million water refilling station project was implemented in Iloilo City, while 22 fiberglass reinforced plastic boats and fishing equipment worth P1.97 million were provided to Barangay Granada in the municipality of Carles in Iloilo province.

Meanwhile, the 19 KKB-CDD initiatives were implemented in Bingawan in Iloilo, amounting to P9.197 million, consisting of five roads and one slope protection, and three road projects in Sibunag, Guimaras, worth P13.58 million.

Six projects were implemented in New Washington, Aklan, with a total cost of P10.47 million, composed of two daycare centers, two roads, and two school buildings.

The Municipality of Madalag in Aklan has four projects, including one flood control, one footpath, and two roads, amounting to P9.9 million.

KKB-CDD aims to empower local communities through participatory planning and the implementation of small-scale development projects, Maguad said.

He said the programs were completed according to plans and specifications, including the target completion date of Oct. 30.PNA
