Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is pushing for the creation of a stronger and independent Independent People’s Commission (IPC) to act as the public’s watchdog against massive corruption in government infrastructure projects.
In sponsoring Senate Bill No. 1512, Pangilinan said the IPC will have broad powers—such as issuing subpoenas, freezing assets, suspending contractors, and recommending hold departure orders—to ensure accountability.
He said all IPC hearings will be public and must guarantee fair, transparent investigations.
Pangilinan urged the Senate to pass the measure as a commitment to Filipinos who lost lives and livelihoods due to corruption in failed infrastructure projects.
“Tungkulin natin ito sa lahat ng humihingi ng katarungan, ng pananagutan, at ng pagbabago,” the senator said.IMT
