Senator Francis Pangilinan has reminded government agencies, event organizers, and ticketing platforms to tighten safeguards against ticket scalping as fans gear up for the April concert of SB19.

With excitement building for the group’s “Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale” on April 18, concerns are rising over scalpers who buy tickets in bulk and resell them at heavily inflated prices. Pre-sale began February 27, followed by general sale on February 28.

“Scalping undermines fair access to entertainment events. These practices burden and exploit fans as scalpers and those behind these nefarious activities seek excessive profit,” said Pangilinan.

The senator urged authorities and platforms to prevent ticket hoarding and unauthorized resale, stressing that tickets should reach real concertgoers at official prices.

Last week, Pangilinan led a joint committee hearing on his proposed Senate Bill No. 226 or the “Anti-Ticket Scalping Act,” which seeks to explicitly ban scalping nationwide.

He also challenged the National Bureau of Investigation to use the Cybercrime Prevention Act against individuals and groups deploying automated bots to corner tickets and resell them at exorbitant rates.

The call comes amid growing public frustration as major concert tickets sell out within minutes, only to reappear online at much higher prices.IMT
