Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson slammed what he called another case of misinformation after verifying that former T/Sgt. Orly Guteza is not under the custody of the Philippine Marines, contrary to claims by ex-Rep. Michael Defensor.
“As per verification made with the Marine Commandant, MGen Vince Blanco (PMA Cl ’91), through fellow cavaliers, Guteza is not and has never been under their custody. How much more fakery can we take?” Lacson said on X.
Defensor earlier told a TV interview that Guteza was under Marine custody.
Guteza, who was introduced by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta as a witness during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on September 25, had claimed he delivered suitcases of cash to the homes of ex-Rep. Elizaldy Co and Speaker Martin Romualdez, an allegation Romualdez denied.
Lacson also revealed that a Manila court found inconsistencies in Guteza’s notarized affidavit, recommending a preliminary investigation for falsification.
Senate CCTV footage further showed Guteza arriving at the Senate and staying in Marcoleta’s office before the hearing.
Lacson said while Guteza’s testimony remains on record, the new findings raise serious doubts about his credibility.IMT
