Senator Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson postponed the April 14 hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on alleged anomalous flood control projects, citing the absence of a sworn affidavit from former Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson.

The hearing will only proceed once Singson submits at least a draft affidavit and more senators sign the partial committee report.

“The Committee has deemed it necessary to reschedule the public hearing contingent on the mitigation of the current National Energy Emergency and the formal submission of your sworn affidavit, including all pertinent supporting documents,” Lacson said in a letter to Singson, informing him of the deferment of the hearings until further notice.

“Additionally, the Committee has deferred the resumption of the hearings pending the review and signing of the Partial Committee Report currently before its members.”

Only four members have signed the report so far, short of the nine needed to bring it to the Senate floor.

Lacson said he may instead issue a chairman’s report and forward evidence to the Office of the Ombudsman to aid its ongoing investigation.IMT
