Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson plans to resume the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the alleged anomalous flood control projects on November 14, once he is reappointed as chair when the Senate reconvenes on November 10.
Lacson said a “very important witness” and retired T/Sgt. Orly Guteza will be invited to help strengthen cases against certain politicians, DPWH officials, and contractors.
Guteza, first presented by Senator Rodante Marcoleta in the September 25 hearing, had claimed he delivered “suitcases of cash” to former Rep. Elizaldy Co and former Speaker Martin Romualdez, who has denied the allegations.
Lacson noted that questions about Guteza’s affidavit are now being handled by the Manila RTC Executive Judge after the lawyer named in the document denied notarizing it.
He also confirmed discussing with Senate President Vicente Sotto III the possibility of returning as Blue Ribbon chair, saying he will remain impartial and go where the evidence leads.IMT
