Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said the issuance of arrest warrants against ex-Rep. Elizaldy Co and others linked to anomalous flood control projects shows government is serious—but public pressure must continue.

Lacson urged Filipinos to remain “angry but non-violent,” warning that authorities might ease up if outrage fades.

He said Malacañang, the Ombudsman, and the DOJ must sustain efforts to bring all involved to justice.

The senator noted reports of Co being seen in Japan, saying Interpol is likely monitoring him and can arrest him once it receives his warrant.

Co may face the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee if brought back, but proceedings must avoid violating the sub judice rule, said Lacson.

According to him, investigations should not be rushed but must reach a “logical conclusion”—prosecution, conviction, and jail time.

He cited past budget insertions allegedly done by officials who “got away with it” in previous years, emboldening them to attempt a P100-billion insertion for 2025.

Lacson added that corruption appears massive, with potentially up to 2,000 individuals involved based on the rising count of ghost projects flagged nationwide.IMT
