Senator Loren Legarda welcomed the signing of Republic Act No. 12288, or the Career Progression System for Public School Teachers and School Leaders Act, calling it a milestone in recognizing the vital role of Filipino educators.

The law, which Legarda authored and co-sponsored, sets up a structured framework for teachers’ professional growth and career advancement.

It introduces two career tracks and expands the teaching ladder with higher-level positions such as Master Teacher IV to VII. Promotions will now be based on merit and competence, not just vacancies.

Legarda said the measure not only raises education standards for learners but also uplifts teachers by giving them fair and clear pathways for advancement.

“As we raise the bar for educational standards, it is not only our students whose future we must advance, but also our teachers who nurture and guide them every step of the way,” she added.IMT
