Senator Loren Legarda renewed her call for urgent, sustained climate action after recent super typhoons again devastated parts of the Philippines.
Speaking at the 2025 Philippine Resilience Awards, Legarda stressed resilience, accountability, and science-based policies, noting the country’s ranking as the world’s most disaster-prone in the 2025 World Risk Index.
She cited the destruction from Super Typhoons Nando and Tino and subsequent flooding from Uwan, saying the country’s vulnerability should push stronger adaptation efforts.
The senator also highlighted key measures she championed — the Climate Change Act, People’s Survival Fund, and the Sendai Framework — as foundations for action, not “abstract words.”
Legarda also honored eight PRA awardees for exemplary resilience initiatives, reaffirming her long-standing advocacy for climate and disaster legislation.IMT
