Senator Loren Legarda commended the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the smooth, transparent conduct of the 2025 elections, citing fast result transmission and improved poll management.

“We must commend the COMELEC for the professionalism and efficiency it demonstrated during the 2025 elections. The swift and credible transmission of results, coupled with a well-managed voting process nationwide, reflects years of institutional strengthening and reform,” said Legarda. She also thanked teachers, poll workers, and volunteers for ensuring the success of the polls.

Legarda, however, expressed concern over reports of violence and unrest in some areas.

“It is deeply troubling that in this modern age, where the right to suffrage should be upheld by all, any form of suppression or violence has no place in our democracy. We thank the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines for their efforts in ensuring the peace and safety of the electorate,” the senator from Antique said.

To deepen public engagement, Legarda urged COMELEC to release anonymized, detailed election data, including voter demographics and regional trends.

Open data helps citizens, especially the youth, understand how elections work and how their votes shape the country, she added.

The solon proposed a public data portal with information by age, gender, region, education, and other key indicators—plus candidate profiles and voting history. She also suggested partnerships with schools and experts to ensure data is handled responsibly.

“Transparency does not end at the ballot box. It extends to how we reflect on our choices, learn from our shared experience, and refine the democratic space we all inhabit,” Legarda concluded.IMT
