Former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has been designated as special adviser to House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
His appointment was announced during Team Sulong Gugma’s Miting de Avance in Mandurriao district on Saturday, May 10.
According to a memorandum issued by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, Mabilog’s appointment took effect May 1, 2025.
“Mr. Mabilog’s contributions and insights in his field of expertise will be crucial for enhancing our legislative agenda for the House of Representatives,” the memorandum stated.
The former mayor returned to the Philippines in September last year after seven years in exile abroad.
Mabilog, who was tagged as a drug protector during the Duterte administration, left the country in August 2017 due to fear for his life.
He was granted political asylum in the United States.IMT
