A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Candoni, Negros Occidental early Monday morning, Nov. 3, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The quake, which occurred at 3:06 a.m., was tectonic in origin (caused by the shifting of Earth’s plates along fault lines) and had a depth of 89 kilometers (km).

The quake, which was initially recorded by PHIVOLCS with a magnitude of 5.6, was also felt in Iloilo City and several parts of Iloilo province.IMT
