Malacañang has denied claims that the government is inactive amid rising tensions in the Middle East, saying the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is taking steps to protect Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
The Palace also warned the public against misinformation circulating online.
Castro made the remark in response to Vice President Sara Duterte’s comments questioning the government’s preparedness for a possible escalation of the conflict.
She said if there had been verified information about the crisis as early as 2022, it should have been relayed to proper authorities so the government could prepare.
Castro added that agencies continue to monitor developments and coordinate efforts to assist Filipinos in the region.IMT
