President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged China to give advance notice if rocket debris from its launches may fall within Philippine territory.
Speaking at a media forum in Bengaluru, India, Marcos Jr. said the Philippines has no interest in China’s rockets and is willing to retrieve and return any debris.
He noted that while no laws were violated in the August 4 Long March 12 launch—when suspected debris fell near Palawan—early warnings would help the country prepare.
The President said he made the same offer to Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2023.
“You know, we have no interest in your rockets. Just tell us where they will land, we will collect it and give it to you… ‘Pag may babagsak, kukunin namin sa dagat tapos dadalhin namin sa inyo. Wala namang problema,” according to him.IMT
