President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed concern over the ongoing conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, urging both ASEAN member states to settle the dispute peacefully and in accordance with international law.
“The Philippines views with concern the ongoing conflict between our two fellow ASEAN Member States and urges them to resolve the dispute in accordance with international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes,” said Marcos Jr.
Reaffirming the country’s commitment to ASEAN unity and regional stability, he also offered the Philippines’ support in easing tensions.
“The Philippines stands ready to assist in any way to restore peace,” the President added.
Clashes along the Thailand-Cambodia border continued Saturday, July 26, leaving over 30 soldiers and civilians dead, dozens wounded, and more than 150,000 people displaced since fighting erupted on July 24.IMT
