President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially declared the results of the 2024 Census of Population, which recorded the Philippine population at 112,729,484 as of July 1, 2024.

Through Proclamation No. 973, the President directed the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in coordination with the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), to distribute the census data—broken down by province, city/municipality, and barangay—to all concerned government agencies.

The PSA conducted the census from July to September 2024, using July 1 as the reference date. The count includes residents across the country’s 18 regions and Filipinos in embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

The 2024 figure marks a 3.69 million increase from the 109.04 million population recorded in 2020. However, the annual growth rate slowed to 0.80% from 2020 to 2024, compared to 1.63% between 2015 and 2020.

According to the PSA, this slowdown may be due to lower fertility and birth rates, COVID-19-related mortality, and reduced migration.

The census was conducted under Executive Order No. 87, which mandates a mid-decade census to update population data across all barangays. July 2024 was also declared as National Census and CBMS Month through Proclamation No. 627.IMT
