President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared May 12, 2025, a special non-working holiday to allow Filipinos to vote in the national and local elections.

The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 878, which states the need to designate Monday, May 12, as a special holiday “to enable the people to exercise their right to vote properly.”

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation on May 6, 2025.

A record 68.43 million registered voters are expected to participate in the 2025 midterm elections.IMT
