President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expanded the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) to strengthen rice aid and key infrastructure projects under the “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative launched at Malacañang.
With nearly P58 billion allocated for 2026, over five million families are set to receive 60 kilos of rice each to ease food insecurity.
The expanded LGSF will also finance the construction of hospitals and health stations, procurement of medical equipment, and the building of multi-purpose halls and sports facilities that can double as evacuation centers during disasters.
Farm-to-market roads and local road networks will be funded to improve trade efficiency, help lower prices of goods, and raise farmers’ incomes. Water supply systems and rural electrification projects will also be upgraded to ensure access to clean water and safer communities.
To fast-track implementation, Marcos Jr. ordered the direct release of funds to local government units.
The President also called for unity and coordination to safeguard public funds and ensure programs benefit communities nationwide.IMT
