President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has commended the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for their service in both national defense and disaster response.
Speaking at the oathtaking of 29 newly promoted generals and flag officers, along with 14 new officers from Foreign Pre-Commissioned Training Institutions, Marcos Jr. highlighted the AFP’s quick action during recent calamities.
He cited their rescue and relief efforts in typhoon-hit Masbate and in Bogo City, Cebu, which was struck by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake Tuesday night.
“The heroism of the Armed Forces is not only confined to the battlefield but also shown in the courage that you demonstrate when you help whenever the need arises,” the President said, praising troops for always being ready to respond.
Marcos Jr. earlier assured that government agencies are on the ground in Cebu to assist earthquake survivors and assess damage.IMT
