President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at Malacañan Palace on Tuesday, Nov. 11, where they discussed climate resilience and sustainability efforts.

Marcos Jr. thanked Ban for his continued advocacy, stressing that sustainability is crucial for the Philippines as one of the most climate-vulnerable nations.

“I am glad that you continue this very important work…. What you are doing — sustainability — is key to the survival of my country, considering we are so vulnerable to the effects of climate change,” the President said.

Ban, in turn, expressed hope for the country’s swift recovery from the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino.

His visit followed his participation in the Trans-Pacific Sustainability Dialogue in Makati, where he urged global support for climate-hit countries like the Philippines.IMT
