President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with António Guterres on Monday, March 9, at the United Nations Headquarters to discuss key global and regional issues.
The bilateral meeting highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Philippines and the United Nations, Malacañang said in its presser.
A major topic was the Philippines’ bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council, with elections set on June 3, 2026.
The Palace said the bid is a sign of the country’s continued commitment to the UN and global cooperation.
Marcos Jr. was joined by Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, UN envoy Enrique A. Manalo, and Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez.IMT
