President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) will be made available to authorities like the Office of the Ombudsman and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), which is probing alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Speaking after the oathtaking of Malacañang media officers, Marcos Jr. said he was surprised to learn that access to SALNs had been restricted during the previous administration.

“These old rules were suspended in the last administration where it was much easier to get a copy of the SALN and to examine it,” he said.

The SALN is a mandatory yearly disclosure that shows a public official’s financial interests and close family ties, aimed at promoting transparency and deterring corruption. Officials must file it by April 30 each year.

Newly appointed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has also lifted the previous restrictions, reaffirming that all government officials must comply with the policy.

Marcos Jr. said he is ready to release his SALN if requested.

“It will be available to whoever would like to – kung bigyan — hingin sa akin ng ICI, eh ‘di siyempre ibibigay ko. Kung hingiin sa akin ng Ombudsman, ibibigay namin,” he told members of the Malacañang Press Corps, Malacañang Cameramen Association, and Presidential Photojournalists Association.IMT
