President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has described his working visit to New York, United States as “very productive,” saying he rallied support for the Philippines’ bid for a seat in the United Nations Security Council and met with world leaders and investors.
“I am happy to report that the outcomes of this visit call for peace amidst tensions in the Middle East and other parts of the world, and of course, to campaign for our UN Security Council candidature,” said Marcos Jr.
During the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, the President highlighted the importance of education, unity in addressing violence against women, and greater participation of women in decision-making.
He also met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to the UN and multilateral cooperation.
On the sidelines of the visit, Marcos Jr. held talks with business leaders including officials of U.S. Medical Glove, which is planning to build a manufacturing facility in the Philippines that could generate more than 2,000 jobs.IMT
