President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged caution in pursuing corruption cases involving billions in public funds from flood control and other projects, stressing the importance of airtight cases to prevent dismissal.

Speaking to the media in Kuala Lumpur after the 47th ASEAN Summit, Marcos Jr. acknowledged public frustration over the slow progress but said due process must be followed.

“I understand the frustration because we do have a very good idea about who these people are. But you have to take them to court. You have to present evidence. They have to be convicted,” he said.

The President added that while justice may move slowly, it must be done right.

“Can you imagine these people who have stolen billions from the government and from the people, nakawala dahil hindi maganda pag-handle ng evidence? That would be a much worse result. So due process must be observed,” said Marcos Jr.IMT
