President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to ensure enough food supply by closely coordinating with manufacturers and suppliers.
DTI Secretary Maria Cristina Roque said the directive is to maintain sufficient stocks of basic goods for at least one to two months, with ongoing inspections in groceries and production sites like Century Pacific.
“Ang directive is to constantly communicate… to make sure that there will be enough supply para sa taumbayan,” said Roque.
DTI said no hoarding has been detected so far, with daily monitoring in place across its 18 regional offices to prevent price hikes.
“Nakatututok po kami… to make sure that there is no price increase for basic necessities and prime commodities,” added Roque.
Marcos Jr. said suppliers have assured enough food stocks, as the government continues to monitor supply and prices amid ongoing challenges.IMT
