President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured victims of recent flash floods that the government will continue to support them until their lives return to normal.
“Sa ating mga kababayan na dumanas ng pagbaha, pagkasira ng kabuhayan, pagkawala ng tahanan, at mahal sa buhay, patuloy po kaming maghahatid ng tulong upang muli tayong makabangon at makapagsimula,” Marcos Jr. said during a World Bank event in Malacañang.
He emphasized that these efforts are part of building a stronger, more inclusive, and more resilient “Bagong Pilipinas.”
In his State of the Nation Address on July 28, the President ordered a full audit and public release of all flood control projects nationwide, condemning corruption that has undermined efforts to protect vulnerable communities.
“Huwag na po tayong magkunwari. Alam naman ng buong madla na nagkaka-racket sa mga proyekto. Mga kickback, mga initiative, errata, SOP, for the boys,” said Marcos Jr., drawing loud applause.
“Kaya sa mga nakikipagsabwatan upang kunin ang pondo ng bayan at nakawin ang kinabukasan ng ating mga mamamayan, mahiya naman kayo sa inyong kapwa Pilipino!”
The Chief Executive instructed the Department of Public Works and Highways to compile a complete list of all flood control projects launched or completed in the past three years. He also tasked the Regional Project Monitoring Committee to identify incomplete, failed, or non-existent projects.
He promised full transparency by making the audit findings public.IMT
