President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on the media to remain partners in combating disinformation and helping Filipinos understand the administration’s reforms, many of which he said are complex and difficult to explain.

Speaking to the Malacañang Press Corps, Marcos Jr. thanked journalists for communicating policy changes over the past three and a half years, especially amid investigations into irregular flood control and infrastructure projects he exposed in his 2025 SONA.

The President said not everyone will agree with the reforms, but clear communication is essential despite political noise. He stressed that experienced reporters play a crucial role as misleading content and conspiracy theories gain traction online.

He warned that fake news, once dismissed as harmless, has become “damaging,” urging media to help strengthen public media literacy and guide Filipinos toward factual information.

“The government needs the help of all the media to try and explain to people that you have to be more discerning about what you read and what you believe and what you take on,” said Marcos Jr., emphasizing that press involvement is vital to ensure the public is not misled by misinformation.IMT
