President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called on local officials to strengthen coordination with the national government to address challenges from the Middle East conflict, stressing unity during the oathtaking of Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines officers in Malacañang.

The President highlighted the group’s role in pushing responsive local laws through collaboration, urging officials to stay committed as tensions abroad impact the country.

“Sana manatili kayong matatag at pursigido sa inyong paglilingkod, lalo na ngayong maraming krisis ang kinakaharap ng bansa dahil sa tensyon na nangyayari sa Gitnang Silangan,” he said, pressing for stronger cooperation.

Marcos Jr. also pushed for accountable governance, better public services, and inclusive opportunities, while directing continued support for Filipinos affected by the crisis.

Government measures include P1.28-B aid for transport workers, P2.5-B fuel subsidies for over 1.4 million drivers, a P1 RORO terminal fee for agri shipments starting April 15, fare discounts on LRT-2 and MRT-3, free rides in key metros, and temporary toll relief on major expressways.IMT
