President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his commitment to purge corruption in government and ensure that only deserving public servants earn the people’s trust.
Speaking at the awarding of the 2025 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos in Malacañang, Marcos Jr. said his administration will continue cleansing the bureaucracy amid the ongoing probe into alleged flood control fund anomalies.
“Hindi madali ang laban na ito. Marami pa tayong haharapin, marami tayong pagdadaanan,” he said. “It will be hard and sometimes it will be painful, but it will be worth it because what we are fighting for is a country that our children will inherit and a nation that they can be proud of, that they can be proud to say I am Filipino.”
The President said the nation’s challenges have tested public confidence in institutions but pointed to the 10 Metrobank awardees, composed of four teachers, three soldiers, and three police officers, as proof that integrity and honor still thrive in public service.
Marcos praised the Metrobank Foundation for 40 years of recognizing model Filipinos, calling the program “a beacon of integrity and inspiration.”
He also thanked Metrobank’s partners — PSBank and the Rotary Clubs of New Manila East and Makati Metro — for supporting efforts to honor excellence in service.IMT
