Murder charges have already been filed against suspects in the killing of veteran journalist and former Kalibo, Aklan mayor Juan “Johnny” Dayang.
Police Captain Aubrey Ayon, Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) spokesperson, said there are three suspects in the murder case.
The gunman was identified as Kim Wency “BB Boy” Bayang Antonio. He remains at large.
“Meron po tayong dinagdag doon na dalawang suspects na hindi pa natin na identify…pero technically po tatlo po ‘yong na sampahan ng kasong murder,” Ayon told IMT NEWS.
“Since meron naman po tayong CCTV footage and other evidence na pwedeng ma-i-connect doon sa suspects na ‘yon na walang mga pangalan kasama pa rin sila sa pagfile ng kaso,” she added.
According to Ayon, they are awaiting the start of court proceedings and the issuance of arrest warrants against the suspects.
APPO is not discounting the possibility that someone higher than the suspects could have ordered and financed the killing of Dayang.
“Continuous pa rin ang investigation para ma-identify po ang mastermind and kung ano talaga ang motive niya,” said Ayon.
