Job seekers are encouraged to take advantage of the one-day mega job fair of the Iloilo provincial government, with close to 12,000 opportunities available for grabs on Friday, July 18, at the Robinsons Jaro.
“This is one of the big events of the provincial PESO (Public Employment Service Office) when it comes to job fairs. Usually, we held this to coincide with the graduation, which is in July,” Iloilo PESO Provincial Manager Cynthia Dario said in an interview.
She said the event is not only for fresh graduates but also for all job seekers, including senior citizens, out-of-school youths, persons with disabilities and senior high school graduates.
The event gathers some 104 companies offering 11,979 job opportunities, consisting of 3,577 local and 8,402 overseas jobs.
Most of the local demands are for customer sales representatives, service crew, accounting assistant, sales clerk, human resource assistant, waiters, and assistant cook.
Overseas openings include nurses for the United States, beauticians for the United Arab Emirates, skilled workers for Japan, Australia and Saudi Arabia, engineers for Europe, and early childhood teachers for New Zealand.
“For those hired-on-the-spot (for local employment), we partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) for employment assistance fund. They will assess them for financial assistance for their pre-employment requirements. It is not absolute that they qualify,” Dario said.
There is also a one-stop shop help desk composed of various government agencies to assist with their pre-employment requirements.
The towns of Sara, Barotac Viejo, Zarraga, Igbaras, Leon, Tigbauan, San Joaquin, Estancia, Janiuay, Guimbal, Barotac Nuevo, Badiangan, Anilao, and Estancia and the Northern Iloilo State University-Estancia will provide free rides, while Lambunao will assist with the fare of applicants.
Applicants are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes, credentials and other necessary documents.PNA
