Driving without a license leads the pack of traffic offenders in Western Visayas, with the Land Transportation Office (LTO-6) reporting 21,946 violations from January to November 2025.

The staggering figure underscores a persistent disregard for road rules despite ongoing enforcement campaigns.

According to LTO-6, these violations are primarily under Republic Act 4136, covering drivers operating without proper licenses, unregistered vehicles, illegal parking, reckless driving, and motorists failing to display official plates and stickers.

“Driving without a license is not just a legal offense — it’s a safety risk for everyone on the road,” LTO 6 Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan said, noting that the numbers reflect both routine checks and targeted operations.

Other common infractions include Seat Belt violations, totaling 9,861 apprehensions, and failure to wear helmets, which reached 4,296 cases under RA 10054. Authorities stressed that these preventable lapses significantly contribute to road injuries and fatalities.

The crackdown also flagged 58 colorum vehicle operators and 42 motorists violating the Anti-Distracted Driving Act (RA 10913), highlighting the ongoing challenge of enforcing discipline among drivers.

LTO-6 emphasized that the figures are just the tip of the iceberg, urging drivers to comply with traffic laws not only to avoid penalties but to protect lives.

As roads grow busier and traffic violations persist, LTO-6 vows to intensify inspections, especially on high-risk roads and areas with frequent accidents, signaling no tolerance for reckless and illegal driving.IMT
