President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said a thorough performance review of government officials—beyond just the Cabinet—is underway as part of efforts to improve public service.
Speaking at the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Marcos Jr. stressed that recent Cabinet changes are not for show but part of a genuine push to improve governance and address everyday concerns of Filipinos.
“We are looking at the problem deeply. I don’t do things pang optics (for show or appearance). If there is a problem, I like to fix it. So that’s what we are doing. So expect us to be doing a rigorous performance review, not only at the Cabinet level, but even deeper,” he added.
The President made the remarks in response to questions about possible new changes, following his call last week for courtesy resignations from Cabinet officials.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin earlier confirmed that Marcos has accepted two resignations and retained the economic team, allowing those who stepped down a brief break.IMT
