Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano has warned that Ombudsman personnel involved in “parking” or delaying cases will be held accountable.

The Office of the Ombudsman is conducting an inventory of pending cases and has uncovered one that has been unresolved for 12 years, with some delays allegedly tied to corruption.

“If we leave that be, we will be hypocritical in going after people… and not holding our own people accountable,” said Clavano.

He stressed that any personnel found involved will face investigation as the agency pushes to clean up its ranks.

A special team has been tasked to resolve long-pending cases, while new rules now impose strict timelines for investigations.

Under the revised guidelines, fact-finding probes must be completed within 60 to 90 days, with faster case processing aimed at ending delays.IMT
