Criminal charges were filed against a teacher accused of molesting several students of Oton National High School in Iloilo.

The teacher is allegedly of violated Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

Police Captain Lunelyn Talamillo, deputy chief of the Oton police station, said the complaints were lodged by their Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).

The victims, aged 13 and 14, reportedly identified one male teacher as the person involved. The police station has not released the suspect’s name pending formal proceedings and to protect the identities of the minors.

The Oton police continue to coordinate with the Department of Education (DepEd) and municipal social welfare officers to ensure the safety and psychological support of the students while the investigation is underway.IMT
