The 1,806 operations conducted by various police units of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) in 2025 yielded over P514 million worth of shabu and marijuana.
The PRO-6 operational accomplishments presented on Friday, Jan. 9, showed that anti-drug operations also led to the arrest 560 high-value individuals and 1,783 street-level individuals.
Considered as the biggest accomplishment in the campaign was the operation in Barangay Aldeguer, Sara, Iloilo where P12.24 million worth of shabu were seized from three repeat offenders in a buy-bust operation on Nov. 15.
“It shows that our policemen are working in that regard. The supply reduction efforts of our police are our focus. This year, we will strengthen the campaign; we will double our efforts to seize more drugs. We are counting on the information received from the communities that are directly affected by the effects of illegal drugs,” PRO-6 director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan said in a press conference.
On Thursday, Jan. 8,Gov. Arthur Defensor said that Iloilo, through its peace and order council budget, is willing to put up a small operations center in all ports of entry to improve intelligence work.
As chair of the regional peace and order council (RPOC), Defensor has a standing directive for the Philippine National Police to inform him if they need augmentation for their K-9 units and in the establishment of operations centers in the ports.
“We brought it up with RPOC because we want to work with Capiz, Aklan, and Antique in their ports of entry,” he said.
Ligan said that they support the initiative of the governor.
“That will be our focus, especially since Iloilo province will have training for narcotics detection groups,” he said.PNA
