The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has vowed to facilitate the repatriation of the remains of an Ilongga overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who died in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The OFW was identified by OWWA as Mary Jill Dela Cerna Muya, 44, of Barangay Cubay in Jaro, Iloilo City. She was found lifeless inside her room in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 31, 2025.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan said they are coordinating with authorities in the UAE to process the clearances needed for the repatriation of Muya’s body.
“Merong imbestigasyon pang mangyayari. So may mga clearances pa tayong kailangan makuha from the host government. And once na ma-clear ito, hindi na tayo mag-hesitate to repatriate dahil syempre ‘yung pamilya is nag-aantay rin dito,” she told reporters.
“But importante siguro, ma-emphasize na ang pamilya sumisigaw ng hustisya at ang OWWA ay sumusuporta dito sa kanilang quest for justice,” Caunan added.IMT
