Malacañang said more high-profile figures linked to the flood control fund scam will be charged and arrested in the coming days.

Presidential Communications Offce (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez said the Ombudsman is set to file additional cases after charging former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and 15 others on November 18 over a substandard flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

Gomez said arrest warrants are already out for Co and the 15 DPWH-Mimaropa and Sunwest officials, with nine suspects now in custody. Co and six others remain at large.

He reiterated President Ferdinad Marcos Jr.’s commitment to put those involved behind bars before Christmas, stressing that more “big fish” are expected to face charges soon.

The PCO chief added that the cases are backed by evidence from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, ensuring airtight prosecutions as the probe into DPWH corruption continues.IMT
