The newly created Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will start investigating anomalous flood control and related projects from the past 10 years, with Malacañang aiming to complete the probe within months.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed former DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson and SGV & Co. Country Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo as members, with Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong as Special Adviser. The ICI chairperson will be announced soon.
Under Executive Order No. 94, the commission is tasked to examine corruption, irregularities, and misuse of public funds in government flood control and infrastructure projects, and recommend cases to the Ombudsman, DOJ, CSC, and other agencies.
Presidential Communications Officer Claire Castro emphasized the investigation will be impartial, thorough, and swift, with no “sacred cows,” regardless of officials’ status.
“Kagaya nang paulit-ulit na sinabi ni Pangulo, walang sasantuhin dito kahit kamag-anak, kaibigan, kaalyado,” she said.IMT
