Malacañang is developing a national framework to ensure the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), while warning against AI-driven disinformation ahead of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In a briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President has tasked the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with leading ongoing research, policy development, and international benchmarking on AI use in the Philippines.
She also raised concerns about AI being misused to spread fake news and discredit the government as SONA nears. Castro called on media professionals to help combat disinformation, both in mainstream and social media.
Kaya we need your help,” according to her.IMT
