Malacañang has started a comprehensive review of the Congress-ratified proposed P6.793 trillion 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to ensure its integrity, fiscal discipline, and alignment with the needs of the Filipino people.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said the Executive Branch received the ratified 2026 GAA on December 29, 2025, prompting an in-depth review that is expected to take about a week.
Recto said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his economic team are closely examining all budget allocations and provisions, including changes introduced by Congress from the original National Expenditure Program.
The review aims to ensure the 2026 GAA meets all legal and technical requirements while delivering programs that directly benefit Filipinos, he stressed.
Recto also assured the public that government services will remain uninterrupted even under a brief reenacted budget, adding that the process safeguards fiscal discipline and ensures taxpayers’ money is spent wisely.IMT
