Malacañang has highlighted ongoing government efforts to address the high incidence of teenage pregnancy, citing sex education programs and free adolescent health services.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Department of Health (DOH) is implementing sex education aligned with the law and Filipino culture, along with accessible adolescent health services.
Castro said consultations are free and available anytime for young people. Parental consent is not required unless treatment or prescriptions are involved.
She added that the Palace is also coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development on programs addressing teenage pregnancy.
Castro likewise acknowledged proposals to limit minors’ social media use.
