Malacañang said it respects the Supreme Court’s ruling on the transfer of PhilHealth’s P60-billion unused funds, but the Office of the Solicitor General will study the decision and determine if an appeal is needed.

The Palace noted that President Ferdinad Marcos Jr. had already restored the P60 billion last September, citing PhilHealth’s improved performance and expanded member benefits.

PCO Secretary Dave Gomez said the Executive merely followed the mandate of the 2024 General Appropriations Act, even as the SC declared a key provision unconstitutional.

He added that both the House and Senate later backed the restoration of the funds in their budget actions.

“The House of Representatives incorporated the restoration in the General Appropriations bill and the Senate likewise upheld the directive in its committee report,” according to him.IMT
