Malacañang has urged the public to actively call out politicians involved in corruption, echoing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s strong stance against illegal enrichment.
PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro said corruption continues despite existing laws and honest leaders because some officials remain greedy.
She added that citizens themselves must remind these politicians of the President’s call: “Mahiya naman kayo.”
Her remarks came after questions on how to shield LGUs from being drawn into anomalous infrastructure deals.
On Monday, Sept. 15, Marcos Jr. reinstated the requirement for LGUs to formally accept completed national infrastructure projects—such as roads and flood control systems—as an added safeguard.
This forms part of reforms and the ICI’s ongoing probe into systemic corruption in public works.IMT
