President Bongbong Marcos has slammed delayed and poorly constructed flood control projects in Iloilo City.
On Wednesday, Aug. 13, Marcos inspected Sections 9 and 10 of the Flood Mitigation Project in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district.
“Sa aking pagbisita sa Iloilo, nakita natin ang mga delayed at palpak na flood control projects na lalo pang nagpapalala ng pagbaha,” Marcos said in a Facebook post.
The project, implemented by Iloilo City-based F. Gurrea Construction Incorporated, is funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
The construction of the two sections, with a contract cost of P144 million each, started in February last year.
Based on a status report by the City District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the two sections incurred delays.
Marcos said he directed the DPWH to hold underperforming contractors accountable and blacklist them.
“Sa ating mga kababayan, kasama kayo sa laban kontra katiwalian at pagbaha. I-report ang mga anomalya sa sumbongsapangulo.ph.,” he added.IMT
