President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. awarded cash incentives to Filipino athletes who won medals in the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and praised their dedication and achievements that brought pride to the country.

During the homecoming ceremony in Intramuros, Marcos Jr. commended Team Philippines, which won a total of 277 medals—50 gold, 73 silver, and 154 bronze—finishing sixth overall in the Games held in Thailand from December 9 to 20, 2025.

The President said the Office of the President will match the incentives under Republic Act No. 10699, granting P300,000 to gold medalists, P150,000 to silver medalists, and P60,000 to bronze medalists. Athletes who won in other competitions will also receive P10,000 each.

Marcos Jr. lauded standout performances, including Alex Eala’s historic tennis gold, EJ Obiena’s fourth straight pole vault gold, and the Philippine Women’s National Football Team’s first SEA Games football gold.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots sports, facilities, and support for athletes, hoping to inspire more Filipinos to pursue sports. More than 1,500 Filipino athletes competed, the largest Philippine delegation in SEA Games history.IMT Sports
