More than P63 billion has been allocated this year for National Irrigation Administration (NIA) projects to expand agricultural infrastructure and provide modern equipment to farmers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said.

Nearly P300 billion was earmarked for the agriculture sector in 2026.

Of this, P33 billion will fund farm-to-market roads, including P370 million for Zamboanga del Sur, while almost P731 million is set for Small Scale Irrigation Projects.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Mahayag Dam and solar-powered pump irrigation projects in Zamboanga del Sur, Marcos Jr. assured continued support for farmers through machinery, technology and training to boost harvests, income and food security.

Priority will be given to provinces producing rice, corn and high-value crops, especially areas with the greatest need, he added.

“Dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang bawat magsasaka ay makakatanggap ng angkop na suporta tungo sa masaganang ani, matatag na kabuhayan, at maunlad na kinabukasan.”IMT
